The England Captain’s Armband “Twice Removed”

| February 7, 2012 | 0 Comments

"Sack Capello!" Mayur cried out during the recording of this week's Football Fever Podcast.

Capello has made clear his unhappiness over the English FA's decision to strip John Terry of his England captaincy. If you recall, Capello never understood the significance of the captain's armband when he first took over the job as England manager. And John Terry even undermined Capello's authority with his mini-mutiny at World Cup 2010. Yet, he had no qualms about incurring the wrath of some players (notably Rio Ferdinand) by reinstating Terry as captain a year ago, and now that of the English FA (his employer) as well.

Do you agree with the English FA's decision? Or do you have sympathy for Terry, the only English player in history to have the captain's armband stripped off him TWICE? Tune in to this week's Football Fever Podcast for the best previews, reviews and analysis of footballing action around the world.

Special Guest this week: Peter Barnes, former England international winger who have represented both Manchester Utd and Manchester City at club level.
