Zamalek have fined Mohamed Awad over his on-field altercation with teammate Hossam Abdelmaguid in their defeat to Al Masry.
The White Knights suffered their sixth defeat of their Egyptian Premier League campaign when they lost 2-1 to rivals Al Masry on Monday evening.
Fakhreddine Ben Youssef’s early strike put Al Masry in front after 20 minutes before Mohamed El-Shamy doubled their advantage late in the game with Youssef Obama pulling one back for Zamalek in stoppage time.
During the game, Mohamed Awad appeared to have a heated altercation with Hossam Abdelmaguid before the pair were separated by Hamza Mathlouthi.
The incident led to Zamalek’s director of football Abdelwahed El-Sayed imposing a hefty fine on Awad for instigating the fight on the pitch.
The shot-stopper’s salary will now be deducted by 25% due to misconduct but will not be suspended as the club look to rely on him following Mohamed Sobhi’s injury.
Zamalek will look to get back to winning ways when they host Pharco in the league’s 20th round on Friday, July 21st.
