Zamalek head coach Jose Gomes expressed his frustration following his side’s defeat to Al Masry in the Egyptian Premier League.
The White Knights suffered a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Al Masry as part of the league’s postponed 19th round on Monday.
Fakhreddine Ben Youssef’s early strike put Al Masry in front after 20 minutes before Mohamed El-Shamy doubled their advantage late in the game with Youssef Obama pulling one back for Zamalek in stoppage time.
The game also witnessed a controversial moment in the second half as Zamalek were denied a potential equaliser when Ahmed Sayed Zizo’s penalty appeared to cross the line but the official never awarded the goal.
Jose Gomes reacted to Zamalek’s defeat by saying: “Don’t tell me better luck next time because our luck wasn’t so bad today.
“There are things that should not be happening which led to the defeat. With the way we played, we deserved to come away with the victory.
“Did the ball cross the line? Journalists must have the courage to admit what we all saw today because if we remain quiet about it, such incidents will happen again in the future.
“We were denied a clear goal and the linesman should have seen it and even if he failed to do so, VAR had to intervene and unfortunately, they did not,” he added.
