Al Ahly and Egypt midfielder Ahmed Nabil Kouka suffered an injury in a friendly against Ukraine in their preparations for the Olympics.
The Egyptian national team is gearing up for their second Olympic feature in consecutive tournaments.
In doing so, they played a friendly against the Ukrainian U23 team on Sunday where they drew 1-1 and are set to face Iraq on July 17th.
During their encounter with Ukraine, Al Ahly’s Kouka was taken off in the 60th minute as Tarek Soliman, head of the medical staff, noted that Kouka suffered a bruise on the same foot he had previously injured.
The 22-year-old has suffered many injuries in his short career thus far and is now a doubt for Egypt just days before they kick off the Olympics against the Dominican Republic on July 24th.
However, head coach Rogério Micale had called up a surplus of midfielders on his roster, led by ex-Arsenal midfielder Mohamed Elneny.
