Manchester City fullback Joao Cancelo is wanted by Saudi Pro League clubs Ahli Jeddah and Al Ettifaq according to Spanish newspaper Sport.
Manchester City have set a €30m price tag for Cancelo this summer and it looks like Ahli Jeddah and Al Etiffaq are willing to meet it.
The problem with the transfer is that the Portuguese full-back prioritizes Barcelona in all cases, having spent last season out on loan at the Camp Nou.
Cancelo has reportedly already agreed personal terms with Barcelona and is waiting for them to reach an agreement with Manchester City.
It’s interesting to see whether the Saudi clubs will still keep pushing for the deal or if the player’s desire would push them away.
Al Ahli are keen on reinforcing their squad ahead of a long season that will see them participate in four different competitions, the AFC Champions League, the Saudi Pro League, the King’s Cup, and the Saudi Super Cup.
The club finished third in the Saudi Pro League last season and they will hope to push for the title which they haven’t won since 2016.
On the other hand, Al-Ettifaq, coached by Steven Gerrard, have already made three summer signings, bringing in Ittihad’s Madallah Al-Olayan, Abdulelah Al-Malki from Al-Hilal and Slovak goalkeeper Marek Rodak as a free agent.
