Canadian referee for Egypt's clash against Spain

A Canadian refereeing crew has been selected to take charge of the Egyptian Olympic team game against Spain in the Paris 2024 Olympics.

Canadian Drew Fisher will be the referee assisted by compatriots Michael Parvign and Lias Arafa. The fourth will be the Serbian referee Jelena Cvetkovic.

Fisher refereed in the 2020 and 2021 Club World Cups. He was also selected as one of the VAR referees for the 2022 World Cup.

Egypt meet Spain in the final round on Tuesday 30 July 2024 at 4 PM CET. In the same time, the third-placed Dominican Republic meets already-eliminated Uzbekistan.

The Pharaohs need to pick up a point against Spain or match the Dominican Republic’s result in order to secure a spot in the quarter-finals.

Egypt drew with the Dominican Republic 0-0 in the first game before beating Uzbekistan 1-0 in the second game.
