Asswehly provide transfer update Amr El-Sulya & Percy Tau

Libyan club Asswehly SC have confirmed they are in talks with Al Ahly duo Amr El-Sulya and Ahmed Kendouci.

The Libyan club had announced the signing of Egyptian defender Mahmoud Alaa just last week after his contract with Zamalek expired.

It looks like Alaa won’t be the only Egyptian to join the club this summer as transfer director Walid Tarhouni confirmed they are in negotiations with Amr El-Sulya over a potential summer move.

El-Sulya’s contract with Al Ahly runs out by the end of the current season, but it has been revealed that the Reds are keen on tying him down to a new contract.

Tarhouni has added that they are also eyeing a move for Algerian midfielder Ahmed Kendouci, who is currently on loan from Al Ahly at Ceramica Cleopatra FC.

Finally, Tarhouni has denied all claims his club is looking to sign South African winger Percy Tau amid rumours of a fallout with Al Ahly’s boss Marcel Koller.

Tarhouni said: “The negotiations with Amr El-Sulya heading in a very positive direction. We are optimistic about signing him.

“We also want to sign Ahmed Kendouci, but we are still early in the negotiation process with his agent, but within days an official offer will be sent to Al Ahly to sign him whether on loan or permanently.

“Percy Tau is not in our plans by any means neither is Zamalek’s Seifeddine Jaziri, who was on our shortlist last winter, but not anymore.

“We are looking to sign one of the stars of the Egyptian Premier League this summer without mentioning names,” he added.

Based in Misrata City, Asswehly finished last season in fifth place after securing a spot in the Championship group.

The club has several known names like ex-Esperance midfielder Fousseny Coulibaly, Haythem Ayouni, formerly of Al Masry, and John Okoli, who played in Egypt for Arab Contractors.
