Moroccan left-back Jamal Ech-Chamakh is reportedly putting pressure on his club Hassania d’Agadir to let him join Al Ahly.
According to reports, Ech-Chamakh refused to train with his club yesterday in their training camp in the United Arab Emirates after Agadir rejected an offer from Al Ahly.
The player’s agent Mostafa Al-Moqaddam confirmed the news, revealing that the Reds have made an offer of $650,000 to sign the 24-year-old left-back.
Speaking to DMC TV Channel, Al-Moqaddam said: “Al Ahly have made an official offer to sign Jamal Ech-Chamakh from Hassania Agadir worth $650,000.
“The head coach of Hassania Agadir is against Ech-Chamakh leaving, because the club has issues with signings, making it difficult to let the player go.
“But for the benefit of the club and Moroccan football, it is better for the player to move to Al Ahly. Ech-Chamakh has not left the team’s camp but has stopped participating in group training.
“Hassania Agadir has not asked me to stop negotiations with Al Ahly, because they know the player is keen to leave. The head coach does not want the player to leave as it would cause problems for him.
“We will sit down again with the board of Hassania Agadir to discuss finalizing the deal, as the club needs to agree to his departure. If they do not agree now, the player will leave for free in January, and the club needs the money, which puts them in a difficult position,” he added.
Jamal Ech-Chamakh had expressed his desire to play outside Morocco in order to develop his level, but Agadir is holding onto the player under pressure from their head coach Abdelhadi Sektioui.
A product of the club’s youth sector, Ech-Chamakh was promoted to the first team of Agadir four seasons ago, playing 124 games with the club since then, during which he scored five goals, and assisted 11.
The 24-year-old would be considered the heir apparent for Ali Maaloul after the Tunisian club legend tore his Achilles in the CAF Champions League final, which forced Al Ahly to use right-back Karim Fouad at left-back.
Al Ahly are looking to strengthen their squad ahead of the 2024/25 season. They have spots in their foreign players’ quota following the departure of Aliou Dieng and Anthony Modeste as well as Percy Tau’s rumored leave after his fallout with Marcel Koller.
