Al Ahly are closing in on a deal with Hassania d’Agadir for Moroccan left-back Jamal Ech-Chamakh after the Morccan club agreed to the player’s departure.

It was revealed earlier that Ech-Chamakh is putting pressure on his club Hassania d’Agadir to let him join Al Ahly after the Moroccan club rejected the Reds’ offer.

It looks like Ech-Chamakh prevailed as noew the club and its manager Abdelhadi Sektioui agreed to let the 24-year-old join Al Ahly for a reported fee of $650,000.

Speaking to El-Ahly.com, the player’s agent said: “A breakthrough happened in the last few hours after the head coach changed his mind and agreed to the player’s departure.

“Ech-Chamakh will now leave Agadir’s training camp in UAE and return to Morocco on Thursday to finalize all details relating to his transfer to Al Ahly.”

A product of the club’s youth sector, Ech-Chamakh was promoted to the first team of Agadir four seasons ago, playing 124 games with the club since then, during which he scored five goals, and assisted 11.

The 24-year-old would be considered the heir apparent for Ali Maaloul after the Tunisian club legend tore his Achilles in the CAF Champions League final, which forced Al Ahly to use right-back Karim Fouad at left-back.

Al Ahly are looking to strengthen their squad ahead of the 2024/25 season. They have spots in their foreign players’ quota following the departure of Aliou Dieng and Anthony Modeste as well as Percy Tau’s rumored leave after his fallout with Marcel Koller.
