English midfielder Kalvin Phillips is set to join Ipswich Town on a season-long loan from Manchester City to be partner Sam Morsy.
Phillips will move to Ipswich in hopes of resurrecting his career with the newly promoted club following a frustrating two seasons at the Etihad.
The 28-year-old had an unsuccessful loan at West Ham last season and will be hoping for a better time under Kieran McKenna at Portman Road.
The deal doesn’t include a buyout option and Phillips is expected to feature against Liverpool on Saturday should the deal be completed in time.
Phillips will be partner Egypt’s Sam Morsy in midfield as Ipswich are getting ready for their first Premier League campaign in 22 years.
He becomes the club’s seventh summer signing after Omari Hutchinson, Jacob Greaves, Liam Delap, Arijanet Muric, Conor Townsend, and Ben Johnson.
Philipps joined Manchester City two seasons ago from Leeds United for €49 million but managed to make just 31 appearances for Pep Guardiola’s side, which saw him lost his spot in England’s squad for the 2024 Euros.
