South African giants Kaizer Chiefs have reportedly had an offer for DR Congo striker Fiston Mayele rejected by Pyramids FC.
According to South African media, Kaizer Chiefs made a first offer for Mayele that was not deemed enough by Pyramids.
However, they are expected to come back with a much-improved offer. Chiefs are reportedly willing to offer $650,000 for the centre-forward.
The interest comes due to Kaizer Chiefs’ newly appointed boss Nasreddine Nabi, who had coached Fiston Mayele during their time together at Young Africans when the club reached the CAF Confederation Cup final and the player earned the top scorer award.
It is not yet known whether Mayele would be willing to move to South Africa or stay in Egypt as Chiefs are yet to agree personal terms with the player.
Pyramids, on the other hand, could be reluctant to let their starting striker go as they are trying to snatch the Egyptian Premier League title from Al Ahly and mount a serious challenge for the CAF Champions League.
Mayele had joined Pyramids last season from Tanzania club Young Africans. The 30-year-old had a good debut season finishing second in the Egyptian Premier League’s top-scorers list netting 17 goals in 32 games.
