Egyptian champions Al Ahly are reportedly keen on signing Danish-Palestinian striker Yousef Salech of Swedish club IK Sirius.
The interest comes as Al Ahly hopes to replicate the success of the Wessam Abou Ali signing, who also joined from IK Sirius in January in a record deal for the Swedish club.
According to Swedish publication Fotbolldirekt, Al Ahly are a huge fan of Salech and allocated between $2m to $2.5 million to sign the Danish striker of Palestinian descent.
Salech joined IK Sirius as a replacement for Wessam Abou Ali after his departure of Al Ahly, joining from Danish giants Bröndby IF for a fee of €600,000.
He also had spells at Danish clubs Hellerup IK, HB Köge, and Belgian outfit SK Beveren, and a move to Al Ahly would be his first outside of Europe. During his time in Sweden, Salech 11 goals in 20 games.
The player’s Palestinian descent would help Al Ahly register the player as a non-foreigner, taking advantage of the Egyptian Premier League’s rule of treating Palestinians as domestic players.
The Reds would want to sign Salech as a backup for Wessam Abou Ali as they only have Mahmoud Kahraba as an alternative striker option.
Al Ahly have made a number of marquee signings this summer, bringing in Moroccan internationals Achraf Dari and Yahya Attiat Allah, Qatari defender Youssef Ayman, and Egypt U23 international Omar El-Saaiy.
