Al Ahly's Emam Ashour referred to criminal court

Egyptian Public Prosecution has referred Al Ahly and Egypt midfielder Emam Ashour to the criminal court for assault.

The 26-year-old is accused of assaulting a security guard at a shopping mall in Sheikh Zayed City, with the first hearing scheduled to take place on the 5th of October.

In front of the public prosecution, Emam claims that the guard harassed his wife, who also stated that several people had harassed her.

In his testimony, Emam also said that the security guard fell to the ground and that he did not physically assault him; however, on the other side, the victim accused Ashour of causing his injury.

The player has already withdrawn from the Egyptian national team camp for September due to injury and will return to Al Ahly for rest and rehabilitation.

Al Ahly’s season starts in the Round of 32 of the CAF Champions League against Gor Mahia. After that, they play Zamalek in the CAF Super Cup on 27 September 2024.
