Portuguese midfielder Filipe Nascimento is set to join Ittihad of Alexandria from Polish club Gúrnique Zabrze.
Ittihad have had a very active summer, signing 16 players so far, most notably Al Ahly’s duo Mahmoud Metwally and Mohamed El-Maghraby as well as the likes of Fady Farid, Gebna, Matwan Dawoud, and Abdallah Bakri.
However, it looks like the Greens are not done with the recruitment yet, having managed to acquire this singing of Portuguese midfielder Filipe Nascimento.
The 29-year-old joins from Ekstraklasa’s Gúrnique Zabrze and has signed a three-year deal that will keep him in Alexandria until the summer of 2027.
Zabrze’s manager Jan Urban had also revealed that the player had been left out of the club’s latest matchday squad against Motor Lublin.
“Filipe Nascimento has a new challenge. He is not at the club. He went to his new club to undergo medical examinations and will not be with us,” Urban said.
A product of Benfica’s academy, Nascimento has had spells at Académico de Viseu, Romanian clubs CFR Cluj and FC Dinamo, and Bulgarian giants Levski Sofia, before moving to Poland.
This season, Nascimento has already made six appearances for Zabrze in the Polish league, scoring once at the start of the month in a 3-2 defeat to KS Lécha.
Nascimento will also be the first Portuguese to play in the Egyptian Premier League since Edson Sousa, who had a short spell with Zamalek between 2005 and 2007 after joining from Tottenham.
