CAF finalizes referee selection for Super Cup showdown

CAF has reportedly finalized the refereeing team for the highly anticipated Super Cup clash between the Cairo giants.

The CAF Super Cup match between Al Ahly and Zamalek is scheduled for September 27 at the Kingdom Arena in Saudi Arabia, with kickoff set for 9 PM CET.

According to Moroccan outlet El Botola, Libyan referee Moataz Ibrahim will officiate the match, supported by assistant referees Attia A’mesead and Tunisian Khalil El Hassany.

The fourth official role will be filled by Somali referee Abdelkader Artan.

On the VAR team, South African referee Tom Abungil will lead, with assistance from Moroccan referee Zakaria Brensy.

The last time Al Ahly and Zamalek faced each other in the CAF Super Cup was on February 16 in 1994, when Zamalek defeated Al Ahly 1-0.

CAF also announced that the tickets for the match have already sold out.

Al Ahly enters the match as the reigning CAF Champions League winners, while Zamalek secured their spot by lifting the CAF Confederation Cup.
