Ahmed Fetouh issues public apology, asks for forgiveness

Zamalek defender Ahmed Fetouh issued a statement on his Instagram account, asking for forgiveness after being released on bail.

Fetouh was referred to the Criminal Court on charges of involuntary manslaughter and driving under the influence of drugs following an incident on the Cairo-Alexandria Desert Road where he struck a police officer with his car, resulting in the officer’s death.

On Monday, Fetouh was released on bail, with his trial adjourned until October 22nd, as he also returned to the Zamalek training yesterday.

In his post, Fetouh expressed his sorrow, saying: “I offer my deepest condolences to the family of the deceased. Words cannot describe how I feel, and no words can bring comfort to the grieving family.

“I hope the family will allow me to offer my condolences in person. What happened will stay with me in my heart and mind for the rest of my life.

“I didn’t attend training to hurt anyone’s feelings. I have a contract with Zamalek that I must respect, especially since I couldn’t train for the past 40 days.

“I swear before God that I will take responsibility for the deceased’s daughters for the rest of my life and will do everything I can to earn their forgiveness.”
