Egypt jumps five spots in latest FIFA rankings

FIFA has released its international team rankings for July 2024, with Egypt climbing five spots to reach 31st place.

The Pharaohs secured two victories in September, beating Cape Verde 3-0 and Botswana 4-0, which helped boost their ranking.

Egypt now stands as the third-highest-ranked team in Africa, trailing behind Morocco, who hold 14th place, and Senegal, who rank 21st despite dropping two spots.

Completing the top five African teams are Ivory Coast in 33rd and Nigeria in 39th.

In the Arab rankings, Egypt has moved up to second place behind Morocco, with Tunisia ranked third at 36th, Algeria in fourth after climbing to 41st, and Qatar rounding out the top five despite dropping 10 places to 44th.

On the global stage, Argentina remains top after their Copa America triumph, followed by France in second place. Spain made a significant leap, jumping five places to third after winning the Euros, pushing England and Brazil to fourth and fifth places, respectively.

The biggest mover in the FIFA rankings is Brunei Darussalam, climbing seven spots to 183rd, while Qatar experienced the largest drop, falling 10 places to 44th.
