Ramadan Sobhi can still play with Pyramids pending doping-ban appeal

Egyptian winger Ramadan Sobhi is still eligible to play for Pyramids FC pending the outcome of an appeal submitted by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA).

Hazem Khamis, president of the Egyptian Anti-Doping Organization, stated that WADA was not convinced by the Egyptian committee’s decision to lift Sobhi’s suspension.

In an interview with MBC Masr 2, Khamis said, “WADA was not convinced by the Egyptian decision. Both WADA and the Egyptian Anti-Doping Agency have the right to appeal, and WADA has chosen to do so.”

“The decision to lift the suspension was made by Egyptian authorities, but WADA questioned the reasoning behind it and filed an appeal based on that.”

Khamis clarified that Sobhi can continue playing until a ruling on the appeal is made.

“He is not suspended as there is no official decision to suspend him, and no one knows when a verdict on the appeal will be reached,” he added.

WADA’s appeal challenges the lifting of Ramadan Sobhi’s suspension, requesting a four-year ban.
