Mohamed Hamdi to miss Mauritania double-header

Egyptian defender Mohamed Hamdi has sustained an injury, creating a significant challenge for national team manager Hossam Hassan.

The left-back suffered the injury during Pyramids FC’s match against Rwandese club Armée Patriotique FC in the round of 32 of the CAF Champions League.

Hamdi’s injury is particularly concerning as he is expected to miss the next three weeks, which will force him out of the next international break.

Speaking to the Pyramids Media Center, the club doctor stated: “Mohamed Hamdi has inflammation in the pelvic and abdominal areas. He is expected to miss around three weeks to recover from this injury.”

This situation puts pressure on Hossam Hassan, as Hamdi will be unavailable for the Mauritania double-header, with Ahmed Fetouh still lacking fitness and game time and Karim Fouad sidelined with an ACL injury.

The next international break will run from October 7 to October 15, 2024, during which Egypt will face Mauritania in home and away matches.
