Zamalek have terminated the contract of Benin international striker Samson Akinyoola after failing to make a single appearance this season.
The 24-year-old had joined Zamalek in September 2022 from Venezuelan outfit Caracas FC for a reported fee of €1.2 million.
However, Akinyoola struggled to repeat his goalscoring record in South America, scoring just five goals in 37 games during his time in Cairo.
He was, however, part of the Zamalek team that lifted the CAF Confederation Cup last season. He started the final against RS Berkane and scored in the semi-finals against Dreams FC.
Zamalek reached an agreement with Samson Akinyoola to terminate his contract in exchange for waiving 50% of his outstanding dues. The player will receive the remaining 50% in installments.
The news means that Zamalek can now sign a new foreign player in the January transfer window in case they manage to lift the transfer ban imposed on the club.
