Al Ahly and Egypt international Emam Ashour has been sentenced to six months in prison for physically assaulting a security guard.

Ashour was initially cleared by the Court of First Instance, but the public prosecution appealed the ruling, leading to a six-month prison sentence issued by the Appeals Court.

Ashour’s lawyer, Mohamed Othman, stated that the judgment was issued in absentia. Othman explained that neither Emam Ashour nor his legal team were informed of the appeal date and, as a result, did not attend the hearing.

Emam’s lawyer confirmed that they will appeal the ruling, which will temporarily suspend the sentence pending further review.
