Reports have emerged on Thursday morning that Al Ahly’s boss Marcel Koller is thought to be among the contenders to take over QPR if the the club sacks Marti Cifuentes.

Koller is believed to have made QPR’s shortlist, but the Swiss has made it clear to Al Ahly’s board that he will respect his contract that is set to expire by the end of the 2025/26 season.

The 64-year-old was also linked with UAE’s Al Ain job as a replacement for Hernán Crespo, but the Asian champions ended up appointing Leonardo Jardim instead.

Ahead of his time at Al Ahly, Koller had several managerial spells in Switzerland and Germany, coaching the likes of FC Basel, Köln, and the Austrian national team.
