Al Ahly nominated for two Globe Soccer awards

Egyptian and African champions Al Ahly have been nominated for two prestigious honors at the annual Globe Soccer Awards.

Founded in 2010, the Globe Soccer Awards are organized by Globe Soccer and involves participation from international football organizations such as UEFA in an annual event held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

The selection process for award recipients involves two stages of voting, in which the first sees the public selects the finalists from a set of nominees, before the final decision is made in the second stage by both public votes and a jury comprising football professionals such as journalists, agents, coaches, and ex-players.

The Red Devils are contenders for the Best Men’s Club award, competing against 12 other clubs, including European champions Real Madrid and Asian champions Al Ain.

Al Ahly is also in the running for the Best Middle East Club award, where they will face stiff competition from Saudi clubs Al Hilal, Al Nassr, and Al Ittihad, as well as UAE’s Al Ain.

These nominations come after an exceptional season for Al Ahly, during which they won the Egyptian Premier League, claimed the CAF Champions League title unbeaten, and secured a third-place finish at the FIFA Club World Cup.

Al Ahly had managed to win the Best Middle East Club award last year and will hope not to return to Cairo empty handed in December.

The 15th edition of the ceremony will be held on December 27 in Dubai and you can register your votes by clicking here.

This year, the jury consists of several renowned ex-footballers including Francesco Totti, Iker Casillas, Eric Abidal, Iran Rush, Luis Figo, Antonio Conte, Fabio Capello, Deco, Gennaro Gattuso, and current Barcelona star Alexia Putellas.
