CAF reschedule Egypt-Botswana clash to ensure fairness

CAF has rescheduled Egypt’s match against Botswana in the final round of AFCON qualifiers to ensure fairness by applying the principle of equal opportunity.

Originally set to kick off at 9 PM CET on November 19, 2024, the game will now start simultaneously with the Cape Verde vs. Mauritania match at 5 PM CET.

This change ensures that all teams involved in the qualification battle have an equal chance, as Botswana, Mauritania, and Cape Verde are still vying for the second qualification spot alongside already qualified Egypt.

Botswana currently sits second in the group with six points from four games, while Mauritania and Cape Verde each have three points. The second-place finisher will secure a spot in the 2025 AFCON in Morocco.

Egypt will face Cape Verde on November 15, 2024, before concluding their campaign against Botswana in Cairo on November 19. With 12 points from four matches, Egypt has already secured their qualification, making these fixtures inconsequential for their standing in the tournament.
