Al Ahly & Zamalek make CAF's shortlist for Club of the Year

Both Cairo giants have been nominated for the prestigious African Club of the Year award, following their impressive performances in continental competitions.

Al Ahly earned their spot with a dominant campaign in the CAF Champions League, winning the title without a single loss and conceding just one goal throughout the tournament.

Zamalek, on the other hand, claimed the CAF Confederation Cup title and capped their season by defeating Al Ahly in the African Super Cup, further bolstering their credentials.

The five-club shortlist also includes Tunisia’s Esperance Sportive de Tunis, who reached the Champions League final, Morocco’s RS Berkane, the Confederation Cup runners-up, and South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns.

Al Ahly, the defending titleholders, have claimed the award a record six times (2005, 2006, 2008, 2012, 2013, and 2023). Zamalek has won it once, back in 2002.

The awards ceremony will take place in Morocco on December 16, 2024.
