Mohamed Salah has equaled Thierry Henry’s Premier League goal record and surpassed Luis Suarez for goals and assists in a single season.
Salah scored from the penalty spot during Liverpool’s 2-2 draw with Manchester United, marking his 21st goal in all competitions this season.
In reaching yet another milestone, this goal brought Salah level with Arsenal and France legend Thierry Henry on 175 Premier League goals, placing him joint-seventh on the all-time scoring charts. Only Alan Shearer (260), Harry Kane (213), Wayne Rooney (208), Andy Cole (187), Sergio Aguero (184), and Frank Lampard (177) have scored more.
With Salah maintaining almost a goal-per-game ratio this season, finding the net 18 times in 19 Premier League appearances; the Liverpool star is realistically on track to overtake Lampard. And with 19 league games remaining, Mo would need to score 14 more goals to beat Aguero, and Andy Cole’s records, potentially securing fourth place in the all-time rankings by the end of the campaign.
Additionally, Salah’s penalty brought his total goal involvements in the league this season to 31. The Egyptian contributed 18 goals and 13 assists, after just 19 matches.
According to sports analysts, Opta, no player in Premier League history has ever recorded more goal involvements in the first 19 matches of a season. Salah’s tally surpasses Luis Suarez’s 30 goal contributions (23 goals, seven assists) during his 2013/14 campaign, snatching yet another throne.
Salah is currently the frontrunner for this season’s Golden Boot, with Erling Haaland, Alexander Isak, Bryan Mbeumo, and Cole Palmer trailing behind.
Beyond just scoring, Salah remains the most influential attacking player in the league. His 31 goal involvements are far ahead of second-placed Cole Palmer, who has 19 goal contributions.
On a night overshadowed by criticism of Trent Alexander-Arnold’s defensive struggles, Salah once again demonstrated his consistency and focus, letting his performances speak louder than any off-field speculation.
While doubts remain over the forward’s contract situations, fans held a banner in the Kop during the match that read: ‘FSG give Mo and Co. their dough’. Further adding pressure on the clubs’ ownership to give Salah the contract he deserves.
