Omar Marmoush has expressed pride in becoming the first Egyptian to sign for Manchester City, describing the move as a dream come true.

The 25-year-old forward officially joined City from Eintracht Frankfurt, penning a four-and-a-half-year deal. Marmoush becomes the third new addition to Pep Guardiola’s squad this week. The move is set to cost Manchester City a €75m fixed fee plus €5m in potential bonus payments.

Speaking to City Studios after sealing his move, Marmoush shared his excitement, “It’s a big, big honour and I’m really, really happy to be the first player to play for Manchester City from Egypt, showing what my country has,” he said.

He continued, “Representing my country at a big club like this was something I always dreamed of. My dreams are now becoming a reality of being the first Egyptian at Manchester City, and I hope I can maintain this level. The Premier League is, for us in Egypt, the biggest and most-followed league because of my teammates like Mo Salah and other Egyptians who have played here. Growing up, most players in Egypt dream of being in the Premier League, and that’s why it makes me so happy to be here in this beautiful league.”

“I cannot deny want to win trophies, I know I am joining a winning environment and winning culture.

Marmoush added, “This is a day I will never forget, To sign for Manchester City, one of the best teams in the world, is an amazing feeling. I am delighted, my family are so proud, and we are all very happy to be here in Manchester.”

“With Pep, his technical staff and the world-class facilities here, players have everything they need to improve. That was really exciting for me when I had the chance to come here. And I cannot deny I also want to win trophies. City have been the most successful club in England for many, many years, so I know I am joining a winning environment and winning culture. I want to learn from the staff and my teammates, and I want to become a valued member of this winning team.

Marmoush concluded, “I really am looking forward to getting going, meeting the other players and showing the Manchester City fans what I can do.”

Prior to joining City, Marmoush scored 20 goals from just 26 appearances for Frankfurt alongside 14 assists this season.
