Mostafa Mohamed

Despite a whirlwind of transfer rumors, Mostafa Mohamed has opted to remain at FC Nantes until the summer window.

Nantes manager Antoine Kombouar recently suggested that Mostafa’s time at the club was nearing its end, “Since last summer, even during last winter’s transfer window, he has been considering a move. This past summer, he was ready to leave, but he didn’t find the club he wanted.”

According to reports in France, Mostafa Mohamed received various offers, including a loan proposal from his former club, Zamalek. However, the striker declined, prioritizing a continued career in Europe over a return to his former club.

Club president Waldemar Kita confirmed the player’s latest decision, stating, “Mostafa Mohamed is staying at FC Nantes, we need him.”

Behind the scenes, an agreement was reportedly reached between Mostafa and the French club. In exchange for committing to the team’s survival campaign this season, the forward will be allowed to leave in the summer for a reasonable transfer fee.

Blackburn Rovers reportedly made a late loan inquiry for Mostafa Mohamed in the final hours of the January transfer window, but no deal materialized. Previously, Nantes had demanded over €10 million for his transfer, but the asking price may be lowered in the coming months.

So far this season, Mostafa Mohamed has netted four goals in 19 appearances across Ligue 1 and the Coupe de France.
