Ceramica Cleopatra midfielder Ahmed Kendouci is set to undergo surgery following a serious injury sustained during Pharco tie.
The Algerian international suffered a double fracture in his tibia during Saturday’s match, the club confirmed in an official statement. Kendouci’s agent, Nasser Yehia, revealed the nature of the injury.
“Kendouci will undergo surgery tonight after the injury he sustained yesterday. Thankfully, the damage is away from the tendons and ligaments, but the initial estimate is a three to four-month absence. The final recovery time will be determined by the team doctor after the operation,” he said.
Yehia added that despite the setback, Kendouci has been somewhat comforted by support from across the footballing world. “He’s very appreciative of the support he received from Shikabala, and the Algerian national team and several officials from the Algerian FA have also reached out. Additionally, Yassine El Mallah, the player involved in the challenge that led to the injury, visited him personally to offer his condolences.”
Ceramica Cleopatra did not disclose an official recovery timeline in their statement, but Kendouci’s absence is expected to be significant.
The injury Ahmed Kendouci suffered overshadowed an otherwise successful outing for Ceramica, who defeated Pharco 2-0 at El Max Stadium in the second round of the league’s final phase.
