Omar Marmoush continues to gather momentum, scooping both the Etihad Player of the Month and the Nissan Goal of the Month awards for March.
Having joined the Sky Blues from Eintracht Frankfurt in January, Marmoush has wasted no time making an impact under Pep Guardiola. After bursting onto the scene with a hat-trick against Newcastle in February, he has gone from strength to strength, quickly becoming a fan favorite at the Etihad.
In March, Marmoush played a crucial role in City’s attacking setup by leading the line as a striker and also dropping into deeper positions to influence the game. His performances edged out competition from Nico O’Reilly and Erling Haaland to earn him his first Etihad Player of the Month award.
His standout moment of the month came during City’s 2-2 draw with Brighton, when he scored with a sensational 20-yard strike off the inside of the post. The goal earned Marmoush the Nissan Goal of the Month award, his second in as many months after winning February’s prize for a lobbed finish against Newcastle.
Marmoush also made his mark in the FA Cup quarter-finals. Coming off the bench against Bournemouth, he scored the match-winning goal that sealed a 2-1 comeback and sent City into their seventh consecutive FA Cup semi-final, where they’re set to face Nottingham Forest.
His double of monthly awards places him alongside the likes of Josko Gvardiol as one of only two City players to win the Nissan Goal of the Month twice this season.
Barely two and a half months into his Manchester City career, Marmoush is already proving to be one of the signings of the season.
