Mohamed Salah has shattered a long-standing Premier League record just days after penning a new contract with Liverpool.

Fresh off signing a two-year extension to stay at Anfield until 2027, Salah made headlines again during Sunday’s 2-0 victory over West Ham. The Egyptian provided the assist for Luis Diaz’s opening goal in the 18th minute, continuing his impressive form this season.

That assist marked Salah’s 45th goal involvement (27 goals, 18 assists) in the Premier League this season, the most ever recorded in a 38-game campaign.

The 32-year-old surpassed the previous joint record holders, Arsenal and France legend Thierry Henry (2002/03) and Manchester City’s Erling Haaland (2022/23), both of whom were tied on 44 goal contributions.

Salah now eyes another milestone: the all-time record of 47 goal involvements in a single Premier League season, held by Alan Shearer (Blackburn, 1994/95) and Andy Cole (Newcastle, 1993/94), both achieved during 42-game seasons.

Liverpool’s decision to secure Salah’s future amid previous interest from Saudi Arabia and rumors of a potential departure appears all the more crucial as the club closes in on yet another league title, with Salah continuing to lead the charge.

With a handful of games still to play, Salah’s stunning form could yet see him set even more records before the season concludes.
