Pyramids FC kept their Premier League title hopes alive with a narrow win over Zamalek, ending The White Knights’ Champions League chances.

The game’s decisive moment came in the 21st minute when Zamalek goalkeeper Mohamed Awad mishandled a routine cross from Abdel-Rahman Magdi, allowing Ibrahim Adel to pounce and slot home from close range.

The result lifts Pyramids to second place with 50 points, just two behind leaders Al Ahly, who earlier edged Ceramica Cleopatra 1-0. With two matches left to play, Pyramids remain firmly in the title hunt.

Zamalek, meanwhile, stay third on 41 points and are now winless in four consecutive league matches. Their hopes of clinching the league title or a CAF Champions League spot have been mathematically ruled out.

The loss also extends Ayman El-Ramady’s wait for a first win as Zamalek’s newly appointed head coach, following a draw and now a defeat in his first two games at the helm.

Pyramids’ victory comes as they await the Egyptian FA’s Appeals Committee to announce its verdict on the controversial Cairo derby this Thursday.
