Ipswich Town Sam Morsy

Ipswich Town captain Sam Morsy is set to leave the club, with the Egyptian midfielder reportedly closing in on a move to Al Kuwait SC.

The 33-year-old midfielder was notably absent from the squad’s pre-season training camp in Austria, signaling his likely departure after three years at Portman Road.

Sam Morsy has been widely regarded as a fan favorite at Ipswich Town since joining the club in 2021. The midfielder played a central role in the club’s back-to-back promotions, earning the PFA Championship Fans’ Player of the Year award, before going on to start 31 matches in the Premier League last season.

However, contract extension talks ultimately stalled and even though Morsy’s contract expires in the summer of 2026, the player looks set to depart the club.

With Morsy turning 34 in September and Ipswich Town recently spending £7.8 million on Dutch midfielder Azor Matusiwa, the club seems to have begun planning for the long term.

According to local reports, Kuwaiti champions Al Kuwait SC have submitted a lucrative offer for the Egyptian international.

Ipswich Town are reportedly not expected to demand a transfer fee, provided the move is outside of England, in recognition of Morsy’s significant contributions to the club.
