Trabzonspor are reportedly seeking a surprise loan bid for Palestinian striker Wessam Abou Ali following his recent departure from Al Ahly.
The 26-year-old forward, who recently joined MLS side Columbus Crew from Al Ahly following their FIFA Club World Cup campaign, is now said to be attracting interest from the Turkish Süper Lig.
Reports suggest Trabzonspor have already opened official talks with Columbus Crew over a potential loan deal, with Abou Ali himself understood to be keen on a move to Turkey.
Wessam Abou Ali recently forced a move away from Cairo in a deal valued at $7.5 million, signing a two-year contract with Columbus Crew. His departure from Al Ahly came following a controversial few weeks that saw his relationship with the club deteriorate.
The player had spent a season and a half with the Red Devils, scoring a total of 38 goals and assisting 10 in 60 matches. In the process, Abou Ali helped Al Ahly secure six trophies during his brief but memorable tenure at the club, quickly becoming a fan favorite.
Whether Columbus Crew would be willing to let Wessam Abou Ali join Trabzonspor remains to be seen as the MLS season is still underway and the team will likely want to keep their recent signee at the club.
