Pyramids FC were held to a 0-0 draw by newly promoted Wadi Degla in the opening match of the Egyptian Premier League season.
The opening match of the league, played at Al Salam Stadium, saw both sides reduced to ten. Additionally, Pyramids’ new signee, Ewerton, made his professional debut for the club.
Pyramids were dealt an early blow when midfielder Walid El Karti was shown a straight red card in the 17th minute for a reckless challenge on Wadi Degla’s Ibrahim el-Bahnasi.
However despite their advantage, Wadi Degla struggled to capitalize and were themselves reduced to ten men midway through the second half after Mahmoud Talaat received a second yellow card in the 63rd minute.
Both sides had half-chances, including a Wadi Degla opportunity in the 38th minute, but Ahmed El-Shenawy was quick off his line to collect the loose ball.
In the end, neither team managed to break the deadlock, with the points shared to start the new campaign.
