Liverpool star Mohamed Salah has weighed in on the Premier League title race, tipping Arsenal as favorites to lift the trophy this season.

The Reds host Mikel Arteta’s side at Anfield this weekend in a showdown between two early contenders. Both clubs boast perfect records so far this season.

Liverpool opened their campaign with a 4-2 win over Bournemouth before a dramatic stoppage-time strike from 16-year-old debutant Rio Ngumoha secured victory at Newcastle. Despite the strong start, defensive lapses remain a concern, with Arne Slot’s side conceding four goals in two games.

Arsenal, in contrast, have yet to concede a goal. After edging past Manchester United on opening day, they dismantled Leeds United 5-0 to underline their credentials.

Speaking to Sky Sports ahead of Sunday’s clash, Salah was clear about where he thinks the advantage lies.

“Of course that team, I said that a few times today and also at the PFA awards, I said like they are the favourites, because they have a team play together for five, six years, so they understand each other’s game and they have a manager also with the team for five, six years.”

He also contrasted Arsenal’s stability with the changes at Liverpool and Manchester City.

“When the team has stuck together for that long, they know each other’s game, so it becomes easier for them. But other teams like us and Manchester City changing a lot of players, which is sometimes tricky. But again, like team with Pep Guardiola, they are always the favourites.”

Salah concluded, “But of course, in my opinion, this year Arsenal is number one.”
