Al Ahly midfielder Mohamed Ali Ben Romdhane struck in stoppage time to secure a spot for Tunisia at the 2026 World Cup.
In dramatic fashion Mohamed Ali Ben Romdhane scored a 94th-minute goal that gave Tunisia a 1-0 victory over Equatorial Guinea in Malabo on Monday.
The Al Ahly midfielder, introduced as a substitute, latched onto a pass from Firas Chaouat before firing home to spark celebrations from the visitors.
The result guarantees Tunisia top spot in Group H with two games to spare, extending their flawless defensive record in the qualifying rounds, eight matches without conceding.
It will be Tunisia’s seventh appearance on the global stage and their third in succession, following group-stage exits in both 2018 and 2022. They now sit ten points clear of Namibia, who still have a game in hand.
Elsewhere in Group H, Malawi fought back from two goals down to draw 2-2 with Liberia.
Morocco, meanwhile, maintained their perfect record with a 2-0 win in Zambia.
In Group D, Libya stayed in contention after defeating Eswatini 2-0 to move within two points of leaders Cape Verde.
North Africa is on course for strong representation in the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Morocco have already qualified, Egypt could confirm their ticket with a win in Burkina Faso on Tuesday, and Algeria need just one more victory to secure Group G after a draw with Guinea.
