Al Ahly have announced the appointment Jess Thorup as their new head coach on a two-and-a-half-year deal, the club confirmed.
Al Ahly giants have officially announced the appointment of their next manager, a little over a month after parting ways with Spanish head coach, Jose Riveiro.
Jess Thorup, 55, is expected to take the helm at the club along with his coaching team, with five new staff members set to join him in Cairo. The former FC Augsburg and FC Copenhagen manager replaces interim coach Emad El-Nahhas, who was a caretaker following Jose Riveiro’s departure.
Under interim coach Emad El-Nahhas, Al Ahly had rediscovered form, winning four straight league matches, including last week’s Cairo Derby, to move level on 18 points with Zamalek at the top of the Egyptian Premier League table.
However, the Red Devils currently sit third on goal difference, a position that the incoming Danish manager will certainly be expected to improve.
