CAF has announced the ten-man shortlist for the 2025 African-Based Player of the Year award, with Pyramids FC players dominating the list.

Al Ahly are represented by a single player, Emam Ashour. His nomination comes after a strong campaign with the Red Devils, where he played a key role in their domestic league triumph.

He’s joined on the shortlist by four players from CAF Champions League winners Pyramids FC. Morocco’s Mohamed Chibi, Burkina Faso’s Blati Toure, Congolese striker Fiston Mayele, and Egyptian winger Ibrahim Adel, who recently completed a transfer to UAE club Al-Jazira.

Morocco have two additional representatives. Mohamed Hrimat and Oussama Lamlioui. Algeria’s Ismael Belkacemi and Burkina Faso defender Issoufou Dayo are also among the nominees.

Tanzania’s Shomari Kapombe rounds out the list after an impressive season with Simba SC.

The winner will be announced during CAF’s annual awards gala set to take place later this year.
