Pyramids FC winger Ramadan Sobhi finds himself at the center of two serious legal battles, a four-year provisional suspension over a doping case, and an extended detention in a forgery case.

The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has issued a provisional four-year suspension against Sobhi pending a final ruling in his doping case. The suspension follows months of dispute over an irregular sample collected during a routine test.

Hazem Khamis, head of the Egyptian Anti-Doping Authority, previously revealed that Sobhi’s sample contained anomalies in its chemical codes, suggesting potential tampering or use of prohibited substitution methods.

“This case is unprecedented in Egypt,” said Khamis.

The sample contained non-human components, which could either indicate manipulation or use of illegal masking agents.

The final decision rests with CAS. If the initial ruling stands, Sobhi will be ruled out for a 4-year period from taking part in any match.

In a separate but no less damaging development, a Giza criminal court has extended Sobhi’s detention until December 30 as investigations continue into a forgery case involving academic fraud.

Ramadan Sobhi and three others are accused of falsifying official documents related to exams and attendance records at a tourism and hospitality institute. Charges include forging exam answer sheets, altering attendance records, and fabricating paperwork to falsely prove participation in courses.

The Egyptian forward was initially released on bail after paying LE 100,000, but was later detained at Cairo International Airport upon his return from Istanbul. The arrest was triggered by a court-issued warrant following a previous in absentia ruling in the same case.

Sobhi’s legal team is reportedly preparing defenses on both fronts. Meanwhile, Pyramids FC has yet to issue an official statement addressing either the doping charges or the forgery case.
