Mohamed Salah announced on Tuesday that he will leave Liverpool at the end of the current season, ending a nine-year spell at Anfield.

The Egyptian captain posted an emotional farewell message to the Reds’ fans on social media. Liverpool later confirmed the decision.

In his farewell message, Salah said: “I will be leaving Liverpool at the end of the season.” He also said the club, the city, and the fans became part of his life and that Merseyside will always be a home to him and his family.

The 33-year-old joined Liverpool from Roma in 2017. He leaves Anfield after nine seasons, 255 goals, and 435 appearances. Only Ian Rush and Roger Hunt scored more for the club.

Salah helped Liverpool win every major trophy available to the club during his time there. He won two Premier League titles, the Champions League, the FA Cup, two League Cups, the Club World Cup, the UEFA Super Cup, and the Community Shield.

His individual record is equally significant. Salah won the Premier League Golden Boot four times, matching Thierry Henry’s record. He also ranks fourth on the league’s all-time scoring list.

The announcement marks the end of the most productive period in Liverpool’s modern history. It also marks the end of one of the most successful overseas careers in Premier League history.
