Hania El Hammamy beat Nour El Sherbini in straight games to retain the Optasia Championships title in Wimbledon.
Hania El Hammamy won the 2026 Optasia Championships after beating fellow Egyptian Nour El Sherbini 3-0 in the women’s final at The Wimbledon Club in England. El Hammamy took the match 11-9, 12-10, 11-6 in 39 minutes.
The result allowed Hania El Hammamy to defend the title she won last year and keep her position at the top of the PSA women’s world rankings. Optasia had billed the final as both a title match and a battle for the world No. 1 spot.
El Hammamy edged a tight opening game, then came through an even closer second after El Sherbini held a game ball at 10-9. She took control in the third and closed out the match without dropping a game.
The final brought together the top two seeds in the women’s draw after El Hammamy beat Satomi Watanabe in the semi-finals and El Sherbini defeated Georgina Kennedy to reach the title match.
The win gives her yet another title days before the start of the El Gouna International, which is scheduled to begin on 4 April and is one of the major events on the PSA calendar.
