Al Ahly youngster Belal Ateya is set to join Spain’s Racing Santander on a two-year loan with an option to buy, according to his agent.

Belal Ateya is close to joining Spanish club Racing Santander from Al Ahly, according to his agent, Sayed Amer.

He said Ateya will join Racing Santander on a free two-year loan. The deal includes an option to buy.

In an interview, Amer said he first followed Ateya with Egypt’s youth national team before presenting him to Racing Santander. He said the Spanish club tracked the player closely and liked his style and personality on the pitch.

Racing Santander sent its offer some time ago. He added that Al Ahly set conditions during the talks, which delayed the deal while the Spanish club reviewed them.

Amer added that Al Ahly approved Racing Santander’s offer for the youth-team player, and that the two clubs will hold a final meeting to sign the contracts and complete the move.

Amer also said Al Ahly inserted clauses to protect its rights. Those clauses include bonus payments if Ateya reaches certain scoring targets.
