Egyptian Football Association president Hany Abo Rida has gone to Turkey for talks with Mohamed Salah to ease tensions with Hossam Hassan.

The planned meeting with the Trabzonspor forward follows his substitution against Angola in September and subsequent absence from Egypt’s matches against South Sudan and South Africa, sources say.

The EFA confirmed that Abo Rida met Turkish Football Federation president İbrahim Hacıosmanoğlu on Saturday and would attend a Trabzonspor league match during his visit.

Egypt’s squad for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Malawi will be announced on November 8, team director Ibrahim Hassan said. The players will report to the national team’s training centre the following day.

Hossam Hassan took Salah off after 60 minutes of Egypt’s goalless draw with Angola in Cairo on September 25, explaining afterwards that the substitution was for “technical reasons”.

Salah then left the camp and missed the September 29 trip to South Sudan, where Egypt won 5-0.

As previously reported by KingFut, the EFA said the decision to rest Salah had been agreed before the Angola game because of concerns over Juba Stadium’s artificial surface.

Abo Rida’s visit also includes discussions on cooperation between the Egyptian and Turkish federations.
