Hossam Hassan has excluded Arsenal’s Mohamed Elneny from his first-ever Egypt squad ahead of the March international break.
Egypt will take part in the Winsunited Cup during the March break in the UAE alongside Tunisia, Croatia, and New Zealand.
The tournament will consist of two semi-final matches, and the winners will play in the final to determine the champion, while the losers will play in a third-placed playoff.
The Pharaohs will face New Zealand in the semi-finals on March 22 in what will be Hossam Hassan’s first game in charge of the Pharaohs.
Hassan called up seven foreign-based players for the camp, led by Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah as well as Mahmoud Trezeguet, Mostafa Mohamed, and Omar Marmoush.
Ittihad Jeddah skipper Ahmed Hegazi, Hamdi Fathi, and Mohamed Sherif also made the cut, as Arsenal’s Mohamed Elneny was overlooked by the new Egypt boss.
Ipswich Town captain Sam Morsy was also left out along with Damac’s Tarek Hamed, Amr Warda, and Ahmed Hassan Kouka.
