Turki Al-Sheikh, chairman of the Saudi General Entertainment Authority, confirmed the presence of José Mourinho as part of the analysis team for the Egypt Cup final.
The Egyptian Football Association, in collaboration with the Saudi Arabian Football Federation, announced the staging of the Cairo derby in the final of the 2022-2023 Egypt Cup in Riyadh.
Speaking ahead of the game, Turki Al-Sheikh said: “José Mourinho will be present at the Egypt Cup final between Al Ahly and Zamalek to analyze the match from the studio.
“44 cameras are covering the Egyptian Cup final match between Al Ahly and Zamalek, including 28 inside the stadium, and a Spanish production crew will be directing the match, the same crew that directed the World Cup final.
“We have reached an agreement with the United Media Services Company for joint broadcasting of the match, and we will consult Al Ahly and Zamalek regarding placing cameras on the substitutes’ benches, and the final decision will be up to the two teams.”
Al Ahly and Zamalek will play the Egypt Cup final for the first time in Saudi Arabia, scheduled for March 8th at Al-Awwal Park in Riyadh as part of the Riyadh Season festivities.
Turki Al-Sheikh had previously announced an additional cash prize from the Riyadh Season worth $500,000 for the cup final winner.
He added: “There are special preparations for Al-Awwal Park Stadium, which will host the final match, and there will be a pre-match ceremony with a major star, as well as extensive celebrations with the winning team after the match.
“We have decided that the winner will receive $500,000, $150,000 for the runner-up, and $50,000 for the best player.
Al-Sheikh concluded: “There will be a pre-match analysis studio airing before the match, about 3 or 4 hours before kick-off. It will be presented by Ibrahim Fayek and Walid Al Faraj, with José Mourinho joining them.”
