Egyptian Football Association (EFA) president Gamal Allam has confirmed that Ramadan Sobhi’s doping test sample returned positive.
The news comes as a blow to Pyramids as Ramadan Sobhi now faces the risk of a lengthy ban depending on the results of a second test.
However, Gamal Allam also confirmed that Sobhi and Pyramids will have time to appeal the decision in the next two weeks.
“The responsible committee from FIFA sent us an official letter where Ramadan Sobhi’s doping sample returned positive,” Allam told ONSports FM.
“Pyramids also informed us about the test results but they will have 10 days to make their appeal. There will be another test however before we take any action against the player.
“It is possible that he took some medicine which he didn’t know much about,” he added.
Sobhi has made 15 appearances across all competitions for Pyramids this season, scoring and assisting once.
