Former Chelsea and Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata hailed Mohamed Salah and discussed his relationship with the winger.
Juan Mata had faced Mohamed Salah multiple times in the Northwest derby before the Spaniard departed Manchester United in 2022.
The midfielder went on to join Galatasaray in the Turkish Super Lig before heading to Japan’s Vissel Kobe for a short spell and is now without a club.
Speaking about his time with Salah, Mata praised Liverpool’s no.11 and revealed he got injured because of him in one of the derbies.

“I know Salah well and we did not get along at Chelsea, but I suffered when he moved to Liverpool and I went to Manchester United,” Mata said via Al-Oula TV channel.
“In one of the matches against Liverpool, I felt something, and at that moment Salah was running with the ball and when I tried to catch up with him, I got injured and left the pitch.
“I have a lot of respect for Mohamed Salah because of what he achieved in football, whether with the Egyptian national team or the teams he played for,” he added.
