Romanian club Rapid Bucharest has announced that Gabonese striker Aaron Boupendza is now officially cleared to play for them.
The transfer saga involving Gabonese striker Aaron Boupendza and Zamalek was one of the most drawn-out stories of the summer window.
Boupendza had initially signed a pre-contract with Zamalek, and the Egyptian club even received his international transfer certificate. However, in a surprising turn of events, Boupendza chose to join Romanian side Rapid Bucharest instead.
While Zamalek seeks compensation, Boupendza’s immediate future on the pitch is no longer in doubt, as he gears up to make his debut with Rapid Bucharest.
In a post on Facebook, the club shared the news: “Excellent news, this morning we received confirmation from FIFA that Boupendza is eligible to play for us.”
Rapid Bucharest’s manager also confirmed that the club had received the player’s permanent international transfer certificate. He also mentioned that Boupendza would be ready to play after the international break.
