AFCON

The draw for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Morocco 2025 took place on earlier today at the Mohammed V National Theatre in Rabat, Morocco.

The event unveiled the group stage matchups for the prestigious tournament. The tournament is scheduled to run from 21 December 2025 to 18 January 2026.

The Pharaohs find themselves in Group B, where they will face tough opposition from South Africa, Angola, and Zimbabwe as they aim to progress to the knockout stages.

The tournament will feature 24 teams, divided into six groups of four. According to the draw procedures outlined by the Confederation of African Football (CAF), the top two teams from each group, along with the four best third-placed teams, will advance to the round of 16. Morocco, as hosts, were automatically placed in position A1, while the remaining teams were seeded based on their FIFA rankings.

The Egyptian squad under new leadership in Hossam Hassan will look to bounce back from previous upsets in the competition as they chase a record-extending eighth AFCON title.
